Anchorage Alaska

Here are some pics from work at Anchorage International Airport in Alaska. I only had 20 min to do this so the all my pics aren't up and the descriptions are brief with I figure several spelling errors. A turtle that the police found in the lake that shouldn't be out and about.

Downtown Anchorage band playing some drums, they were alright.

Lets see if I can spell this correct, this egg is from a Semipolmated Plover.... We've found several nests, and nests don't last long because we want to get rid of birds.

Lake Hood, and some floater planes. We patrol, harass and shoot a lot of fireworks at the birds on the lake.

The airport ends on that point right there, I'm on a coastel trail riding my bike. You can see the inlet at the bottom.

A very protective moma of her two babies charged the truck when we got within 40 yards of her, so we left them alone.

This black bear cub was probably just pushed away from it's mom, and ended up in the wrong place.

We charged it in the truck to keep it out of that garbage.

The first pic is a bike trail that is around a golf course about half a mile from my place.My second day at work we had a two year old black bear cub wonder down to the airport. We successfully pushed him out. The next day he came back and swam across Lake Hood that the floater planes use to take-off on and ended up being darted by the fish and game and taken elsewhere to be released again. Even as a cub on all fours he stood about waist high on me.As it turned out we made it onto the news the next day, unfortunately the shot was of four of us sitting on the ground with shotguns waiting for him to come out of the trees. State and Fed employees sitting around, go figure!
